The Tal Bargah-Sargdar area is located in southern Iran, east of Darab in Fars province and on the border of the Sanandaj-Sirjan and Zagros-over thrust zones. The major rock units in the studied area include basic and rarely acidic volcanic rocks, intruded by gabbroic and gabbrodiorite dykes. This complex is ultimately covered by the Tarbour detrital-carbonate formation (Meistrichtian-Cenomanian). The presence of numerous microscopic textures such as hyalo-microlitic, porphyric, intersertal, fluidal, variolitic, spherulitic and mesh texture in volcanic rocks indicates fast cooling under submarine conditions and water pressure imbalance during crystallization. The intrusive rocks in the area include gabbroic, micro-gabbroic, and gabbro-diorite dikes, and show rare signs of prehnite-pumpellyite metamorphic facies due to burial. The rock units in this area have sodic nature (poor in potassium). The majority of volcanic units in this area have calc-alkaline and the majority of intrusive rocks have a tholeiitic nature, and yet they are often located at the border of these two natures. The trace element pattern in the rock samples of the area indicates their placement in a regime related to a magmatic arc. It seems that the overlap of tholeiitic-calc-alkaline series and the placement between MORB and island arcs can confirm two different geodynamic regimes of magmatism in the area; One in the north of the Neotethys and probably coincided with the subduction of oceanic plate under the oceanic crust that led to the development of island arc magmatism, and the second in the south of the Neotethys and related to mid-ocean ridges.
